PORTAL_Graphic_2016-2017

PORTAL enters us into the many moments that make up our lives on the North West of Tasmania, through your lens.

YOU’RE INVITED to take part in this special community photography project by sharing with us a photograph from your day in the North West of Tasmania on Saturday 8 April 2017. Each photograph will be used in a public exhibition, capturing 24 hours of life on the coast by the people in our community.

Step 1. REGISTER WITH US – by 31 March

The registration period has now closed, but you can still participate! Follow the next steps in capturing and submitting your photo for PORTAL 2017!

 

Step 2. CAPTURE YOUR PHOTO – Saturday 8 April 2017

On Saturday 8 April 2017 capture a moment from your day. Use your smartphone, compact digital camera, SLR, digital SLR or any other device at your disposal. Your singular captured moment will contribute to the collective snapshot of life across the North West of Tasmania.

 

Step 3. SUBMIT & SHARE YOUR PHOTO – by 17 April

Step 4. GO SEE – 6–28 May 2017

Visit the 2017 PORTAL Exhibition at the Devonport Regional Gallery, 45 Stewart Street Devonport between 6 - 28 May 2017 to see your photo. 

 


 

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can I participate if I don’t live in North West Tasmania? Yes, as long as your photo is taken in the North West of Tasmania on Saturday 8 April 2017.

Can I participate if I haven’t registered? Yes. Just make sure your photo is captured on Saturday 8 April 2017, and send it in to us at [email protected] with your full name and contact details.

What area does ‘North West Tasmania’ cover? Generally, the North West Tasmania region covers as far east as Port Sorell, across to the north west coast passing Devonport, Ulverstone, Penguin, Burnie, Wynyard, Boat Harbour, Stanley and Smithton, south to Roseberry and across the highlands into Sheffield.

Can I submit more than one photo? No. Please only submit one photo from your day.

Do I have to be a certain age to participate? No. Everyone can participate, no matter your age!

How do I submit my photo? Email your photo to Dianne Sheehan, Education and Public Programs Officer at Devonport Regional Gallery at [email protected] and include:

What size and format should my photo be in? Your photo should be a minimum of 1332px x 1620px, and no more than 5MB. We accept most common image files, including JPEG, TIF and PNG.

When do I need to submit my photo by? You have from 8 April to 17 April to submit your photo. Photos received after this date will not be included in the exhibition.

Can I edit my photo before submitting it? Yes, but only for slight changes that do not significantly change the original image. Do not include logos or watermarks on your image. Your name will be credited at the exhibition alongside your photo.

Are all photos included in the exhibition? Yes, every photo we receive is included.
